Child Health

At Castle Medical Centre, we provide a high standard of care for your children, from the infant to the adolescent years.

With our years of experience, we are in an excellent position to provide care for chronic diseases such as asthma and eczema, and common problems such as constipation, feeding difficulties, recurrent ear infections etc.

All doctors at CMC have trained in hospital paediatrics and are very experienced in treating the acutely unwell child. We are happy to discuss any general health concerns you have regarding your child, from nutritional needs to behavioural and emotional issues.

In the infant, two week and six week baby checks are provided. This is an opportunity to have your baby examined and to ask questions relating to your new baby’s care.

IMMUNISATIONS

Childhood immunisations are available free of charge from CMC. You will receive information regarding baby vaccinations from the HSE and you can make an appointment with our nurse to have immunisations administered. Babies currently receive vaccinations in general practice at 2, 4, 6, 12 and 13 months. School age immunisations are now carried out in school when your child is in Junior Infants.

The National Immunisation Website immunisation.ie contains useful information for parents of all the vaccinations included in the schedule.

OLDER CHILDREN

As well as caring for your children in their younger years, we are aware of the pressures and health difficulties that the older child/adolescent may experience. As well as physical complaints, issues with mental health, substance misuse and relationship difficulties can cause great concern.

We are happy to discuss these issues with parents and their children and advise on use of support services or refer to appropriate hospital services.
